My practice centres around landscapes and the transformations it is undergoing in response to global-warming. Recognising the imminent threat that climate-change poses, my work aims to posit potential futures that consider a more symbiotic way of living with all other-than-human life. Working across painting, installation, printmaking, film and sculpture, my interdisciplinary approach allows the research and concept behind each project to determine its materiality and form. Informed by Eco Materialist thinking, I consider the environmental histories of the materials I use and how they might continue to generate value beyond the gallery, contributing positively to the ecosystems from which they came. Research is central to my practice. I regularly work with environmental scientists and research institutions, drawing on climate science, ecology and conservation to inform new work. My current research, in collaboration with the James Hutton Institute, explores reforestation, environmental stewardship and the potential for technological innovation to help shape more resilient futures. My work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, and is held in the RSA Permanent Collection. Following several awards and collaborations, I have reached a point where I want to slow down, allowing observation, material exploration and the landscape to become more active collaborators in my practice.
