Sheila Roberts. Gould Cottage, Drummond Street, Comrie
I studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art from 1979 – 84 gaining a post diploma in drawing and painting. During my post graduate year I developed my printmaking skills and made sculptures from found objects which became the inspiration for my prints. I was an active member of Edinburgh Printmakers before moving to Comrie in 1995 where I worked briefly from a wash shed behind the flat. I have now returned to my love of printmaking creating new work from my garden studio.
I specialise in soft ground etchings using impressions from feathers, leather, lace, leaves and grasses to create the images, which are inspired by my love of nature, gradually building up the textures and tones until the picture is complete. The plates are inked by hand and limited numbered editions are printed.
