These works are created both whilst out rambling, be it in and around Edinburgh, the inner Hebrides or the highlands, and in the studio. On pocket sized pieces of paper I draw or do quick monoprints, as well as collect seed heads, grasses and other objects. I end up with sometimes hundreds of tiny rough works from which I select combinations that I feel resonate. I finish these works by hand stitching them together, enjoying completing a very tactile creative process in this way. The latter is also a nod to the female creativity and productivity of the lands that has inspired the work.
