Emerge – natural design

A study of Arisaema: at juvenile stages, with flowers and leaflets unfurling from their protective coverings as they grow. The structure and pattern in one of the worlds strangest flowers, this is an example of natural design in action, with the specific aim of attracting pollinators. These works are from a series called Emerge, Natural Design, inspired by the modernist plant photography of Karl Blossfeldt and the gothic sci-fi illustrations of H.R. Giger
