Disciplines: Painting

Location: Edinburgh

Materials: Acrylic, Oil
My practice is grounded in painting, integrating digital processes, animation, and emerging technologies to extend how images are experienced and understood. Painted works act as anchors, expanding beyond the canvas into immersive layers that challenge the boundaries between physical and digital space. I was among the early adopters of augmented reality within contemporary art practice, using it to extend narrative and viewer engagement beyond the physical artwork. I draw on religious iconography, myth, and contemporary technological culture to explore themes of faith, power, surveillance, and personal agency. Digital elements function as conceptual tools rather than embellishments, allowing images to evolve, loop, and respond over time while remaining rooted in materiality and craft. Exhibited in both traditional gallery settings and experimental digital formats, my work focuses on how viewers encounter artworks physically, psychologically, and temporally, with painting remaining central as a more human counterpoint to rapidly accelerating systems.
