Ramsay Pagett

I am a Scottish silversmith working where traditional making meets contemporary form. My practice explores the relationships between body, land, and material, shaped by the gestures, textures, and subtle rhythms of the Scottish landscape. I create sculptural and functional silver objects that embody fluidity, connection, and a sense of place held in the hand.

Working through processes such as hand-raising, chasing, and engraving, I respond intuitively to the metal. These slow, physical methods allow each surface to develop through touch, repetition, and pressure. The finished forms carry traces of movement and time, marks that speak quietly of labour, presence, and care.

My work often begins with noticing: the curve of a shoreline, the weight of a stone, the way light moves across water or skin. I translate these observations into objects that invite close looking and tactile interaction. The result is work that feels lived with rather than simply observed pieces that hold memory and invite relationship.

At its core, my practice is a celebration of making. It is about honouring heritage through the body, and shaping material into forms that feel intimate, grounded, and enduring.
