Painting has been a constant and developing passion in which I am increasingly absorbed. Inspiration still comes from trips to the islands around Scotland, as well as further afield in Italy and Australia and closer to home in the more gentle rural landscape of the fields and hills around my studio here in Angus.
Landscape has been the starting point and stimulus for much of my painting.
Over time the work has become more abstracted from the topographical to communicate the sense of history or the mood of the subject.

Having graduated in 1965 in Drawing and Painting from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art I was awarded a David Murray Studentship from the Royal Academy Schools in London which afforded me an extended time to explore landscape painting in Barra in the Western Isles.
