  • Biography
I am a contemporary landscape artist, inspired by the stunning places I see in Scotland. My work frequently examines the narrative behind the wild beauty of the Highlands and the Western Isles. I also enjoy painting Scotland's historic monuments and buildings. Some of the painted subjects are iconic and well known, while others are more everyday or obscure.

My recent work falls loosely into two categories, Timeless Landscapes and Mountains & Shores. I usually focus on particular places, often with buildings or monuments, that may appear to be frozen in time but have actually been subject to change. Some of the historic structures featured sit in the wildest landscapes. They embody a fragile harmony between the built and natural environments.

I have a website with further information - www.fisherart.org
I don't sell on my website because I don't want to become a slave to that, and I think you have to see the work in real life.
I have a compulsion to paint. For the past three years I have been throwing myself into painting. I previously worked as a landscape architect and historic building specialist. Landscape and old buildings therefore feature strongly in my artwork.
1978 MA Hons Geography, Glasgow
1983 MPhil Landscape Design, Edinburgh
2010 MSc European Urban Conservation, Dundee
2013 -2022 Built Heritage Officer, Fife Council

I have been drawing and painting all my life. I have had some training (in the Open College of the Arts) and have had a few paintings hung in the Kelvingrove Gallery in Glasgow, the Smith Gallery and the MacRobert Arts Centre in Stirling. I currently exhibit with various art clubs and small galleries and in a cafe where I live.
