I am an artist working from a small space from home in the wood of Doune. My practice is not of a professional nature although I have sold some pieces of artwork.

Experimentation in techniques, textures, and colours from the offset forms the base of the surface from which I start from and becomes an important part of the final image.
Mixing collage, impressionism, figurative and abstract tones on top of texture works well for me as the mark making takes on an unexpected form.
My surface choices of stretched watercolour paper with a layer of canvas roll and gesso for texture gives the working surface a solid base which can withstand the different mediums I use but also enables traditional framing under glass, and stretched watercolour paper as a standalone surface for projects using acrylic, watercolour and pastel layers which can be introduced back into the artwork at a later stage by scratching away at the surface.

Choosing to paint a varied selection of imagery be it landscapes, still life, nature, wildlife or just something I see that catches my eye keeps the motivation fresh rather than a stagnant repetition of turning out the same subject on a regular basis.
