Barbara A Morton is a published author, artist, curator, and book maker. In 2014 she established Entropie Books to publish small editions of her poetry, literature, artist books, and pamphlets. Her artistic and literary practice incorporates the arts of poetry, printmaking, bookbinding, typography, papermaking, and ceramics to present her literary texts and abstract geometric drawings in an exact and deliberate visual form.
The environment, the home of the text, is critical. Likewise, typography ~ how the text resides upon the page ~ is crucial. Resisting uniformity of design each published title is hand-crafted and intuitively considered to achieve an equilibrium of artistic form and literary content.
Her writing is also published widely in national and international journals and anthologies including, The SHOp, Gutter, The Stinging Fly, Burning Bush II, Abridged, The Yellow Nib as edited by Professor Ciaran Carson, and the American Academic Journal of Literature, Culture and the Arts ~ An Sionnach. Haiku are published frequently by both The British Haiku Society and The Irish Haiku Society. Her poetry is included, alongside Seamus Heaney, in the Anthology of Northern Irish Poets, A Trail of Silver Papers. She is recipient of a Tyrone Guthrie Writers’ Bursary, and in 2011, under the adjudication of poet, Alan Jude Moore, was selected for the Poetry Ireland Introductions Series. In 2013, her poetry was highly commended by Imtiaz Dharker at the Poetry on the Lake festival. Leave, was awarded second place prize by Dublin County Libraries at the inaugural Redline Book Festival Poetry Competition
