Self-Ending is a solo exhibition developed as a circular painting installation, expanded through participatory performance and public discussion. Rooted in recurring childhood nightmares that never fully end, the project explores how meaning fractures through subtle linguistic, perceptual and psychological shifts.
The installation positioned the paintings as parts of a continuous psychological landscape rather than isolated images. Through The Nightmare Ritual, visitors were invited to recount a nightmare, which was interpreted by another visitor as a drawing and gradually connected to others across the space.
Presented at Shemis Gallery, Tehran, in 2023, the project brought together painting, installation, participation and collective memory, treating the exhibition as an unstable and evolving lived experience.
