ABOUT

The Cordis Trust Prize is a wonderful opportunity for tapestry weavers world wide. It secures international tapestry as a prominent feature in the Visual Art Scotland annual exhibition, while also promoting both VAS and Scotland’s established tapestry tradition. This, the first submission already reflects international interest. Nine countries were represented. A total of 33 artists, most with  successful careers in tapestry entered 53 works.

The committee unanimously agreed upon 10 works for the exhibition based on the quality of visual imagery submitted. We believe the shortlist covers a range of ideas and approaches that reflects the best of contemporary gobelin tapestry.

The ten shortlisted artists are:
Anne Jackson – The Great European Witch Hunt
Anne Naustdal – Arid Landscape
Carmen Groza – Poussieres d’etoiles
Jo McDonald – Tales of the Unexpected
Kristen Saeterdal – The Melancholy of Departure
Patricia Taylor – Artemis
Renata Rozsivalova – Hell
