REVERB

19 March 2022 - 29 April 2022

The Exhibition is now closed.

We were thrilled to present our online Annual Exhibition, REVERB, which was presented on Artlogic open March 19th - April 29th.

We hosted a digital Private View event on Friday 18 March, where we announced the recipients of this year's awards and previewed some of our programme through films we have been producing with Easydays Creative

Among these awards was the W Gordon Smith Award, Open Eye Gallery Award, and our first Young Space Award for emerging artists, selected by guest curator Kate Mothes - and many more.

This VAS exhibition was the most extensive in recent years in terms of the number of works and artists on display, as well as the range of disciplines represented. The council, who are volunteers from the membership, felt that it was important, particularly with the struggles of COVID-19, to celebrate and share the breadth and depth of work being made. As such, this exhibition presented Moving Image and Performance works showcased online, the first time that VAS has had a specific open call for these mediums.

During the show we presented the shortlist for the Inches Carr Creative Development Award 2022. The Award, delivered in conjunction with the Inches Carr Trust, has been part of our programme since 2018 and awards the winner £7000 towards development and mentorship.

The exhibition also presented work from our pilot programme of funded artist residencies, delivered in partnership with Marchmont House, the Wilhelmina Barns-Graham Trust, the Borlase Smart John Wells Trust and Bothy Project. Emerging artists from our Graduate Showcase will be shown alongside invited artists Ruth Leslie, Soo Burnell and Sekai Machache.
