OPEN SSA+VAS promises to be the largest and most diverse exhibition of contemporary art and craft to be held in Scotland this year, giving an expected audience of over 30,000 people the opportunity to discover and enjoy artworks across all mediums. The exhibition is produced and supported entirely by artists with no public funding.
This year both Societies received an unprecedented level of submissions of the very highest quality and standard, making the selection process extremely difficult.
This process is both lengthy and rigorous and carried out over a number of weeks by a selection team of 10, elected by the membership of each Society. Throughout this period 2200 artworks were anonymously considered and meticulously discussed in full by the selection teams, with only 200 artworks from all disciplines finally pre-selected to create a show which we feel works well as a whole.
Once again, we’d like to thank you all for taking the time to apply and reassure those who may be disappointed that each Society will shortly announce a full programme of exciting off site members exhibitions and events for 2020 and 2021, offering an even greater number of artists the opportunity to exhibit their work with us then.
