I am a Scottish artist living and working in Edinburgh. I graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in 2025 with First-Class Honours. I am a recipient of the RSA John Kinross Scholarship and was shortlisted for the New Blood Emerging Artist Prize. Two of my Degree Show paintings were exhibited at Unit London during Frieze Week 2025. My practice explores open, ambiguous narratives that reflect states of drifting, separation and displacement. My paintings depict fragmented worlds where landscape and figurative storytelling intersect. This creates tension between the figure and the environment it inhabits – where unrelated places and incidents seem to overlap, intertwine and reconfigure. Working from fleeting memories and everyday observations – snapshots often gathered while travelling – my process is intuitive and experimental. Figures engaged in fishing, skating, or paddleboarding are reimagined within saturated, water-lit spaces that feel both recognisable and dreamlike, often at a grand scale. In my 2025 Degree show each canvas measured 192 cm², spanning the width of my outstretched arms. Familiar gestures become uncanny and everyday activities begin to resemble ritual. Such environments become thresholds rather than destinations. My painting process is intuitive and experimental. I find exciting, organic qualities emerge through trial and error. I mix paint generously, often using old, congealed or drying pigment to produce the richest marks. I activate the surface using thin glazes and scrub back previous layers using abrasive materials to generate new textures and hues in a restless pursuit of the final composition
