Magrane

My practice stems almost entirely from the idea of the ephemeral. From my second year of university, when I really started painting, to this moment now, the idea of ephemerality and temporary feelings, actions, and memory has stayed consistent throughout my work. In my works, I take note of the temporary nature of image and memory – the media I use in these works attempt to extend and suspend this rushed ephemerality : ink and paint, paper, elements of writing as well as sculpture – often masking tape intertwined with found objects. My process of working involves researching subject matter and themes through image capturing, either by my own images or by second-hand images, as well as through gathering objects as a way of showing a narrative alluding to the suspension of the ephemeral. The way I paint and draw, and the way I present images and found objects attempts to suspend movements – the movements that form lived experiences.
