Sara Jane McIntosh is a multidisciplinary artist and arts educator, originally from Toronto, Canada. With a professional background in creating stop motion animation puppets for Disney, MTV and Warner Brothers, she has also worked in theatre and television, creating sets and costumes in Toronto for many years. Moving to Scotland in 2008 to pursue a career in teaching, she has continued to evolve her artistic skills and knowledge. For the past 10 years, Sara Jane has focused on integrating pottery and textiles into her teaching and artistic practice. Over this time she has taught introductory pottery techniques such as coil and slab building, as well as weaving, hand embroidery, textile mending skills and sewing. Sara Jane joined Open Artspace in Glasgow soon after it opened and has been working with the wheel and hand building techniques to create functional homeware and decorative pieces as well as jewellery. She also teaches the children’s pottery courses at Open ArtSpace.
