Lucy

Jones

Disciplines: Printmaking

Location: Edinburgh

Lucy Jones’ layered grids combine her love of aged, worn and imperfect surfaces with that of simple geometric shapes and lines. Through using discarded Tetra Pak style cartons to make her printing plates she is able to work intuitively, embracing discoveries in accidents and imperfections during the printing process. This also satisfies her concern for reducing waste in her creative practice. Due to the fragile nature of the plates and the intuitive process each piece is different and unique. Originally from mid Wales, Lucy gained a BA Hons in Visual Studies at Norwich School of Art and Design where she developed an interest in the geometric simplicity and materiality of minimalist art. She moved to Edinburgh in 2012 and has been selected to show in the RSA, SSA and RSW Opens, had a number of solo exhibitions at private galleries, and completed numerous private and corporate commissions. She works from her studio in Stockbridge.
