Rebecca Kaye is an Edinburgh based artist working under the moniker of ploterre. Her practice uses data as a material to create artwork that describes the natural world. Her work explores the curiosities found within the natural world, researching questions such as ‘what would the dawn chorus look like?’ or whether you can create tree rings from weather data. Using information and observations from maps to spreadsheets and audio to imagery, she discovers patterns and reveals stories deep within the data. These insights are then brought to life through art by drawing with formulas so that every mark and line on the page tells a story.
