Rania

El Gamal

Rania El Gamal is an upcycling artist who divides her time between Dubai, where she lives, and Scotland, where part of her family is from. She creates mosaics, jewellery, and mixed-media artworks from reclaimed materials, celebrating sustainability, storytelling, and the philosophy of finding beauty in the broken. While in Scotland, Rania collects sea glass, pottery shards, and other found treasures from beaches and landscapes as part of an ongoing exploration she describes as Scottish shoreline archaeology. Through this practice, she documents the traces of everyday life left behind by the sea, celebrating the beauty of imperfection and the belief that nothing is truly lost—only waiting to be rediscovered and reimagined. These rescued materials become an integral part of her artworks and jewellery, carrying with them a sense of place, memory, and renewal. By transforming overlooked objects into contemporary pieces, Rania invites viewers to reconsider what we value, revealing that even the most weathered fragments can hold stories, preserve identity, and begin a new chapter through care, repair, and creative transformation.
