Having run a graphic design practice for over 30 years I am now increasingly concentrating on my own work as a visual artist. I draw on the technical skills learnt as a designer and illustrator to progress as an artist, producing digital prints and studio photographs. I layer different elements to create a dreamlike or fantastical narrative, blending the everyday with the exotic to construct a striking and unusual photo-realistic image. Having started my career as a designer sat at a drawing board rather than in front of a screen I am once again exploring pen and ink, graphite pencil and watercolour as a counterbalance to the ubiquitous computer.
