Pearl

Kinnear

Pearl Kinnear is a Glasgow-based interdisciplinary artist with a socially-engaged practice. Her work with communities is integral to both her individual and collaborative practices across drawing, printmaking and sculpture. Often developed in crossover with music, film and theatre, her work is influenced by social issues and an examination of value in things deemed inconsequential, resulting in a multidisciplinary practice that moves between representational, semi-abstract and conceptual language. Some works are created in an instantaneous and responsive manner such as live artmaking during on-stage events. Pearl frequently works as lead artist for community projects and collaborative public artworks in temporary and permanent settings. She is an Associate Artist at Platform, working across different projects and groups to develop, deliver and facilitate their annual programme of workshops. She is also currently Artist in Residence with Starcatchers, working alongside a drama-based artist in Helensburgh[ST1.1], mentoring and developing ways of working with and delivering programmes for emotional literacy in non-verbal and preverbal children. She is a longstanding member and former Director of Glasgow Independent Studios and currently serves on the Committee for Glasgow Project Room. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including Latvia, Ireland, Netherlands, New Mexico, Greece, India, Lithuania, Australia and France.
