“Being an artist always sounded a bit pretentious to me. I was often referred to as an artist by others, as they saw in me the unpredictable, creative and volcanic personality. I worked hard to focus enough become a researcher, scientist and engineer, I hold a PhD (2012). Ultimately, to obtain a PhD in Engineering was a creative act. I sketch, play around with materials, rearrange, reinterpret, innovate, mix reality around me. In recent years, after some scholarly and live achievements, I shifted my energy to produce artworks that I can share meaningfully, that can communicate key messages and life experience, as I am going through it. So here I am, Paula Vera Bloom, the artist. I established an arts studio on the pacific ocean, and a home in Edinburgh. I am in between worlds. Looking for residencies, commissions, exhibition opportunities, buyers, sponsors. Their spirit as an explorer and researcher drives them to the fringes of known maps—both geographic and intellectual—where they act as a tireless investigator, unearthing hidden patterns and forgotten truths.

Previous Experience

Exhibitions and Intallations Milan, Teatro Officina, Viale Monza Foyer Hall Brera Collective (1989) · London Underground, Covent Garden, PatriotHall Edinburgh 2023 VAS Scottish Border 2024, National Gallery Edinburgh 2025/26. Custom Lane Edinburgh Conversations that Hold erica and Central Asia where I researched extensively indigenous cultures, ancestral art and natural materials. Studied sacred arts in Thailand (Lanna Arts, Chiang Rai) and in the Himalayas (Bir, Himachal Pradesh and Bhutan, Sorig School of Sacred Arts). My preferred media are pigments, concrete, plaster, stones and natural materials. My themes are abstracts and creative interpretations and digital manipulations of natural and scientific imaging.”
