Namreem Kanwal is a jeweller and silversmith who specialises in the traditional technique of chasing and repoussé. Having spent most of her life in Scotland, Namreem is passionate about discovering and connecting with her Pakistani roots. Her work ‘Simultaneous Bilingualism’ was exhibited by the British Art Medal Society and in the ‘Roots and Threads’ exhibition in Canvas, Dundee (2025). She also exhibited in ‘Designs for Living: The Domestic Object’ at V&A, Dundee (2025). Additionally, she has undertaken chasing workshops with renowned silversmith Katie Watson at the Marchmont Silversmithing Workshop to develop her chasing knowledge and skills. Namreem’s approach to jewellery and silversmithing is grounded in her drawing and painting practice, receiving a highly commended award from the Royal Scottish Academy in 2021. This foundation informs her work, allowing detailed observation and exploration of line and pattern. She graduated in June 2026 from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design with a First Class Honours in Jewellery and Metal Design.
