Marianne

Le Gallo

Marianne Le Gallo is a Scottish/French (Breton) sculptor, who grew up in a Parisian suburb, spending her summer holidays with her Granny in rural Galloway. Perhaps because of this dual heritage, she is predisposed to question boundaries and neat categorisations. Her work sits somewhere on the art & craft spectrum and fluctuates between figuration and abstraction. She is interested in the connection between intellectual & manual activity & societal values (often hierarchical) placed on those activities. She is also interested in historical (frequently gendered) demarcations between sensory (embodied) and intellectual (disembodied) responses to the human condition. Marianne studied fine art and graduated with distinction from DJCAD, she was then offered an ECA UK/EU Masters Scholarship to study Glass at ECA. In 2025, Marianne received an early career VACMA award which has enabled her to produce a new body of work. In 2026 She received an Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop Members DIY exhibiting bursary.
