Mandy

Maria

Mandy Maria is a Scottish contemporary artist based in Glasgow, working primarily in soft pastel. Her work explores the emotional and sensory experience of landscape, drawing inspiration from the dramatic mountains, shifting weather, and vast spaces of Scotland. Originally trained in industrial design at Gray’s School of Art, Mandy brings a strong sense of composition and structure to her work while maintaining an intuitive and tactile approach to drawing. After discovering soft pastel in 2020, she transitioned into full-time artistic practice, drawn to the immediacy and physicality of the medium. Through bold colour, expressive mark-making, and layered pigment, Mandy creates landscapes that are not literal depictions of place but responses to memory, atmosphere, and the changing qualities of the natural environment. She is a member of Visual Art Scotland and Glasgow Print Studio. Her work has been exhibited in galleries across Scotland, including the Visual Art Scotland exhibition Now and Then at Dalkeith Palace in 2024.
