Linda Macmillan is a Scottish contemporary artist whose work explores colour, texture, pattern and the emotional connection we form with people and places. Working primarily in acrylic and mixed media, Linda creates vibrant, expressive pieces that combine bold colour with intricate detail and experimental techniques, including stitching and textile elements. Her work is inspired by the world around her, from the landscapes and architecture of Scotland to the human face and the limitless possibilities of the cosmos. She is particularly interested in taking familiar subjects and reimagining them through fragmented forms, geometric shapes, vivid colour and contrasting textures. Linda’s practice is constantly evolving, with each series offering an opportunity to explore a different mood, story or visual language. Her work often reflects themes of identity, perception, memory and the relationship between the natural and imagined worlds. Linda has sold work through Firefly Designs and has exhibited at The Big Art Show in Paisley and the Edinburgh Macmillan Art Show. She has also undertaken a number of commissioned works. She is currently developing a series inspired by Kinneil Woods, exploring the atmosphere, character and changing beauty of the woodland. The series is intended to capture and preserve a sense of place that may be altered or lost in the future. Through her art, Linda aims to create work that invites the viewer to pause, look closer and experience the subject in a new way.
