Leanne Bell
Gonczarow
Leanne Bell Gonczarow is an artist and designer based in Edinburgh, Scotland. She recently completed a practice-based PhD at Edinburgh College of Art, University of Edinburgh, exploring photography as a material and performative process in relation to ecological change. Working across photography, moving image and installation, Gonczarow’s practice explores relationships between images, materials, technologies and environments. Her work considers photography not simply as a means of representation, but as an active process through which light, matter and technology interact. She is particularly interested in the physical and conceptual properties of light – its reflection, absorption, transmission and transformation – and how these processes can reveal the instability and material conditions of photographic images.
