I am a Scots-Canadian artist, born in Stirling in Scotland but now living in Nova Scotia Canada. I am a fine art realist painting, and my work explores themes of stillness, silence, and contemplation. In an age of constant distraction, artificial light, and digital life, I’m drawn to tangible things and quieter moments – the kind that invite us to pause, to look closely, and to simply be present. I am an Associate Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, and the Royal Society if Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers. Originally from Bridge of Allan, Scotland, I moved to Nova Scotia in 2013 seeking a more rural lifestyle. The transition from Glasgow to the Annapolis Valley opened up my artistic practice in unexpected ways. Living in nature – experiencing true darkness and silence – fundamentally changed how I see and what I want to capture in paint. Leaving my roots in Scotland behind has reinforced my love for objects with history, items which have stories to tell.
