Adair

Gillian Adair McFarland is a visual artist, researcher, and art therapist with a collaborative practice that spans a range of disciplines. A graduate of St Martins, London, her work is informed by her interest in materiality and time, Her involvement in interdisciplinary projects extends to collaborations with art therapists, artists, astronomers, geneticists, and social scientists. She is co-lead with Kate Downie on ArtMovesFife, a dynamic, large-scale collective artwork unfolding across the creative landscape of Fife. She is also co lead with Ione Parkin on Creativity and Curiosity, an art science project co-founded in 2017 engaging in conversations with astronomers and astrophysicists. McFarland is a professional member of Visual Arts Scotland and the Society of Scottish Artists. “I am fortunate to live in a landscape that shows me wonder. It reminds me of the preciousness of our planet and our moral obligations to each other and the natural world. Artists are well placed to hold slippery, contradictory and complex things in reflective working processes. This is the manner in which I approach my work. The archaeology of marks and objects invite investigation, to draw closer, connecting the fragility of occurrences and the adjustments that can be made in understandings. http://gillianadair.co.uk
