Fiona Young is an emerging artist. She holds degrees from Edinburgh College of Art and The Scottish College of Textiles. Following a successful career in graphic design, Young has recently transitioned to focus fully on her artistic practice. Since the launch of her career in January 2025, she has achieved notable recognition, with her work featured in group exhibitions, art publications, and shortlisted in fine art awards. Incorporating discarded objects and natural elements, Young celebrates the overlooked and creates work that invites reflection and calm. She has been selected for the Emerging Artist exhibition at Pittenweem Arts Festival (2025) and for Earth Matters at Inverleith House, Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. (2026) Winner of VAA100 International. (2025) I never set out to become an artist – it felt as though art found me. In 2023 I discovered a love for creating and photographing nature focused installations. What I didn’t realise at the time was that, subconsciously, my creative work was helping me process years of trauma, particularly from caring for my teenage child through severe mental health challenges. The symbolism in my work revealed itself later: ill health, damage, recovery, resilience, and – above all – hope. A year later, I decided to share my work, believing it might bring others that same sense of hope and remind them of the strength of human resilience.
