I am a Canadian artist, technician, designer and educator based in Glasgow. My hand-stitched appliqué textiles sit at the meeting of craft and fine art. These works combine slow, hand-led processes with repurposed textiles to reframe appliqué as a form of painting. They explore tactility, surface, and the subtle expressivity of cloth. Drawing on the still life tradition, these appliqués present ceramic objects and contemplate the ambiguous poetics of domestic space and labour. This approach turns away from the narrative pull of social media, geopolitics, and identity, and lingers instead in the sometimes comforting, sometimes unsettling ambivalence of materials themselves.
