Mackie

Biography I am an artist that uses a wide range of materials in my work, this is rooted in a long held fascination for exploring the limits and potential inherent in the materials themselves, both natural, such as stone, wood and lead, or man-made such as glass, paper and concrete. My work includes, but is not limited to traditional stone carving, but encompasses innovative use of materials and processes in the production of installations or unique art works, using familiar materials in an unfamiliar way, which seeks to engage the viewer in a dialogue which is both visual and tactile and in so doing gives form to my artistic intent which is rooted in the socio-political conditions within the world we inhabit. My work is grounded in personal experience and a drive to push form and function into new areas.

Disciplines: Sculpture
