Coats

I am a Scotland-based photographer working primarily with dark, atmospheric and conceptual imagery. My ongoing project, North of Decay, explores memory, isolation, grief, survival and the traces left behind by people, animals and places. I am drawn to subjects that are overlooked or disappearing: abandoned structures, empty spaces, urban wildlife and small signs of life continuing within environments shaped by people. Rather than documenting decay simply as deterioration, I am interested in what remains, adapts and persists. Light and darkness are recurring elements throughout my work. Darkness often becomes a place of honesty and vulnerability, while light can offer hope, reveal what has been hidden, or create something more ambiguous. Through North of Decay, I photograph feelings and experiences that are often difficult to verbalise, looking for moments where absence, survival and memory become visible.
