Clare graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in 1996. She worked as a designer and maker for a number of years before pursuing a career in Art Education. Over the last fifteen years she has combined this with the development of her own paintings and prints. She has exhibited widely throughout Scotland and the rest of the UK, as well as in Italy as part of the Fabriano in Acquarello International Watercolour Convention. Clare’s work is in collections in Europe, America and Australia. She is an elected member of the RSW and is also an artist member of the VAS, the RGI and the PAI. ‘I use mixed media techniques and water based paints to evoke a memory of time and place in my work. Fragments from handwritten letters, poetry and vintage wallpaper are incorporated into the background of my paintings, creating surface textures which suggest the patina of age and which hint at the ethereal.’
