Disciplines: Painting

Location: Edinburgh

Materials: Acrylic, Oil, Pen & Ink, Pencil

At Edinburgh Art College I studied fine art and printmaking. After an enjoyable and stimulating career in teaching I retired early to concentrate on my own work. I focus primarily on still life and landscape painting, with my recent work examining the theme of botanical gardens and glass houses. Whilst being inspired by the landscape paintings of Paul Gauguin, Leon Morrocco and David Hockney, I am also intrigued by the Indian Mughal artists and their stylised depiction of natural form.

Previous Experience

Since 2021 I have had paintings accepted for the annual exhibitions of the RSW, VAS, RSA and AAS. I also regularly show my work at the Scottish Arts Club. I am one of four artists who contributed watercolour illustrations to the book ‘A Sketchbook of Edinburgh’, first published by Birlinn in 2017 and reprinted in 2019.
