KING

The beauty of Scotland’s Landscape and Seascape is a recurring source of inspiration for me. My most recent work has concentrated on the power of nature to move water and change the form of coastlines. Sea stacks and cliff edges while full of life and energy are constantly moving little by little. The impact of climate change on some of our most vulnerable species let me to a particular fascination with Bees. Working Plein air is important in my process, I need the time of carefully noting information to make the development of artwork from sketchbook to prints and other artworks possible. I often combine etching and or collagraph monoprints with silkscreen, watercolour and drawing to make unique hybrid works combining plates in the same artwork. Graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone in Drawing and painting in 1981whereI began to create etching and monotype. I am still passionate about this and other mainly traditional forms of printmaking. I taught printmaking and painting for over 35 years in Further Education (mostly part time). I am fortunate to have a purpose-built studio at home where I can make and print intaglio, and small silkscreen prints. I am also a member of Dunfermline and Glasgow print studios, where I can make work on a larger scale. I exhibit regularly with Fife (D)Print Workshop, Glasgow Print Studio, Glasgow Art club and in several juried open exhibitions every year. I am past president of GSWA and former Secretary and Director of FDPW
