Cath Dunn is a painter/printmaker and mixed media artist inspired by natural forms and a sense of place – rocks, trees, the lie of the land. Her primary interest lies in pattern and abstraction to recreate the movement and rhythm in a specific terrain. Landscapes to Cath, are living entities which continue to change. Using patterns, curves and the rhythms of the land, she tries to capture the spirit and her feelings for specific places and certain ecologies, such as the birch woods, represent for Cath, the gracefulness found in other art forms such as contemporary dance. Metaphorically and spiritually, the landscape provides a sense of freedom and a pagan connection to the elements.
