I make three-dimensional constructions using new technologies (laser cutting) and materials (a variety of perspex). The digital combined with the hand made produces a specific aesthetic of making – a ‘constructive’ aesthetic, contributing to the corpus of contemporary constructed art. Drawing on concepts in architecture, mathematics and astronomy, my constructions use various geometries to explore ambiguous forms and space, and our perception of these. Working mainly with perspex, transparency, translucency, and opacity are important characteristics that can reveal, obscure and hide.
