Milteer

Disciplines: Drawing

Location: Edinburgh

Blake Milteer creates intricate landscape drawings that reflect the complexity and subtlety of these environments. Milteer has found landscape to be his most enduring subject matter, often returning to the same areas over many years in different conditions. The artist takes numerous photographs in these places, then creates intricate drawings in the studio, combining elements from the photographs with memories and intuitive mark-making. He also works in photography and video. For over two decades, Blake curated for organisations such as the National Galleries of Scotland, the National Library of Scotland, the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Centre, and the Denver Art Museum. He holds a BFA in Fine Art from the Maryland Institute College of Art and an MA in Art History and Museum Studies from the University of Denver.
