Annabelle Adie 2026 I use my studio as a laboratory and my creating is about research and experiments. I do not limit myself to a specific media. I adapt my craft to the opportunities available where I happen to be. In Italy I was mainly occupied with ceramics where I made sculpted or cast pieces that would then join other works to form installations. In my Paris studio I worked with fabric, sewn into shapes or assembled. My walls were ‘tattooed’ with natural pigments in muted tones. My studio/home showcased my multiple methods and what emerged was a direct processing of varying issues and emotional glitches in which, failure, mistakes and unexpected outcomes are embraced and exploited, there is much to do with reframing challenges as opportunities. The ceramic pieces can be secured or joined by ‘lifelines’ of vibrant ropes or arranged in soothing installations, capturing the light. There are imaginary ‘tools’ and remedies for undetermined ailments. The multiple materials I use come together, each conveying different qualities but united by a common thread concerned with healing and repair.
