I’m a visual artist and maker based in Edinburgh, Scotland. I have worked with holography and photography to create light sculptures on glass since 2017. Every sculpture is a one-of-a-kind and unique piece of work. My process mixes alternative photography processes like cyanotype, holography and glass cold work. Holography is an innovative technique that requires me not only to produce my own light sensitive material but to master the skills to glue, grind and polish the glass objects as well. The protagonist of my work is light. I can bend and shape the light and create varied colours through the different light-sensitive coatings I create. The different forms of the glass surfaces I use hold the recorded light fields and play with the given information to create new shapes and shadows for the observer to find. My works are motivated by my connection to nature. I’m inspired by light patterns and subject matter I come across when swimming in the sea or climbing up a mountain. I often think of my works as the footprint of nature, impressions of nature captured on glass.
