I have a long-held aesthetic interest in abstraction, ecology and modernism. My recent series of drawings and etchings are based upon native wildflowers found in my local urban environment. I see my work as subliminal messaging for nature.

With an intuitive approach based in observation and listening, I look into the plants and aim to capture their inner being, design and unique character. I have an understanding of sacred geometry and often work with graph paper as a foundation.

This is a slow, calm, quiet process I prefer to practice outdoors.

These drawings are my homage to natural phenomena in their infinitely curious design, beauty and detail, often found hiding right under our noses. Like many species in our rapidly industrialised world, these small wildflowers come under great threat by encroaching development, habitat errosion and chemical pollutants. However, against the odds they persist, and I celebrate their quiet tenacity to grow and bloom and play their part in our changing ecosystem.
