- Biography
Since graduating I have been committed to painting and print-making, and am concerned with recording the tissue layer in landscape and the spirit of place. I have a studio in North Edinburgh and have been a member of Edinburgh Printmakers' Workshop and was on their exhibitions committee. I taught art at St George's School, ending my formal art teaching career at ESMS. My work life included programming education and events at the Fruitmarket Gallery, Edinburgh in the 90s. This involved working with artists and many other agencies to make contemporary art accessible to a diverse audience. I led a ground-breaking interpretation project, produced videos about artists and ran workshops and forums about contemporary art practice. During that time - I was on the executive committee for the National Association for Gallery Education.
I worked as an arts researcher and producer for Scottish Television and prior to that post I taught for Adult and Continuing Education at University of Edinburgh and for schools in East Lothian and Bucks County Council.
I teach on the freelance team for National Galleries of Scotland and also run independent art workshops for Sarah Knox Art School and Off the Rails Arthouse, Fife.
My work is represented by Doubtfire Gallery, Velvet Easel Gallery and Strathearn Gallery, as well as exhibiting widely in group shows and taking bespoke commissions. I exhibit annually at Pittenweem Arts Festival and have a solo exhibition at Dundas Street Gallery, October 2025.
