Martha Stefani-Bose (b. 1998, Glasgow) is a visual artist specialising in coloured pencil and graphite drawings. She received a BA (Hons) in Painting and Printmaking from Glasgow School of Art in 2021.
Martha scours her surroundings in the city for reference material, picking out often overlooked details such as street debris, plant life, puddles, and textures of walls, gravel, and pavements. Compositions are carefully planned using pairs of elements with opposing origins like manmade and organic. Unmoored from their original context, they become a marriage of imagination and reality, abstracted and re-formed in vibrant colour.
