I am fascinated by the marks and textures left behind by natural processes: the tide shaping sand and shingle, moss and lichen growing on stone, desire paths worn by streams and rivers, these natural imprints tell stories of persistence, change and
resilience. The environment plays a critical role, shaping the materials and textures I use, as well as the forms that emerge. These organic patterns echo the power of nature and the passage of time.
Through my painting process, I aim to explore the relationship between time, nature and transformation, delving into the layers that accumulate over time - both physically and emotionally - and the way these layers are shaped, worn and redefined by life and the environment around us.
The act of painting itself can mirror the effect that nature and time have on the environment. For my own painting practice, layers of paint are added and removed over a period of weeks and months, mimicking the natural processes of growth and erosion, until each artwork feels complete - a balance of stillness and movement, past and present. Painting becomes not just an act of creation but a way of processing transitions, moving forward and finding beauty in impermanence.
I work with a range of materials, creating my own collage papers and manipulating the surface of the painting to create depth and history in each piece. My paintings are intuitive and multi-layered, using acrylic paint and mixed media, blending rich
textures, colours and organic forms.
