My work explores a sense of place through site-specific projects using clay, language, photography and digital tools. During my MA (Ceramics) I used a series of places as ‘case studies’ to develop a framework to help me take inspiration from a place and then make work based on aspects of what I record back in the studio.

My Master’s Project site for example, the Timber Ponds, was a series of 150-year-old ‘ponds’ built on the intertidal sands of the River Clyde stretching for 2 miles, formerly used to season timber using the tide. I translated four of my sketches into laser cut models to become the organic edge of a geometric shape, similar in proportion to the spaces between the timbers. Slip-cast in parian, the vessels face each other holding the space between the timbers.
