My creative practice currently revolves around the exploration of addiction and the pursuit of fleeting pleasures. I’m interested in why, as a society, we continually chase cheap hits of dopamine as a way to cope or escape. Through a satirical lens, I investigate this behaviour, using irony and exaggeration to provoke thought and reflection. I create visual experiences that evoke the psychological tension between desire and consequence. I aim to challenge the viewer’s perception of addiction, revealing its pervasive influence in a world increasingly dominated by fleeting pleasures.
My work is made up of a collection of laser-cut MDF paintings, blurring the line between painting and object. This material choice adds a sculptural, almost manufactured quality that nods to the consumerist culture I critique. Narrative plays an important role in my practice. I aim to build stories within each piece, deliberately leaving gaps for the viewer to fill, encouraging personal interpretation.
