Felicity Inkpen is an artist working in 2D media from her studio in Leith, Edinburgh. Trained in physics and neuroscience, she draws on her extensive experience as a scientist to inform her contemporary works that attempt to communicate all the strange ways in which the mind works, and a deep appreciation for the natural world. Felicity is a self-taught artist who has been practicing and exhibiting since 2012 and presently works in oils, inks, and printmaking, creating works that combine figurative and abstract elements. The global pandemic caused her to re-evaluate her priorities, and in 2022 she made the switch to focus on art full-time. In the past 3 years she has exhibited extensively across Scotland and England, been an Artist in Residence at the University of Birmingham, and been shortlisted for the John Byrne Award 2023. An experienced educator, Felicity looks for new ways to inspire curiosity and support education at the interface of art and science. Felicity is originally from the Westcountry and has lived in Edinburgh since 2019.
No formal art education, educated in science: Physics (BSc, MPhys, University of Leeds) and Neuroscience (PhD, University of Bristol). Exhibited as an artist since 2012, worked full time as an artist since 2022
