My work is inspired by the landscapes around my home on the south-east coast of central Scotland and by the everyday objects and buildings that form part of our lives. I work across drawing, photography, digital photomontage, ceramics and collage, using my own photographs and sketches as starting points. Making is an important part of how I develop ideas. By layering and repeating images, I bring different elements together and discover new connections between them. Instead of simply recording a landscape, I enjoy changing it and placing familiar household objects in unexpected settings. I am interested in how places are shaped by memory, people and everyday activity, as well as by their natural surroundings. Light switches or plugs appear regularly in my Electric Landscapes series, linking home life with ideas about energy and connection. I hope my work encourages people to pause, look more closely and see the familiar and everyday objects in a different way.
